This event has expired.
Congrats to Robert Boone and Bobby Alonzo on winning as a team.

Mulligan Teamtacular

This special CPL event takes place on Saturday, September 24th.

The CPL Mulligan Teamtacular is a one-night, no-limit Texas Hold'em event. Players will work together as a team of two and try to conquer the field and claim the money! The tournament will be shoot-out style with exciting mulligans. The specific details are explained below. Though this unique format may be new to you, take comfort in knowing all you need is your regular poker skills to have fun and win big money!!

Players will register for The Teamtacular as a team of two. If you do not have a teammate at the time of registration, we still invite you to register alone, as there is a high probability that several players will sign up singly. Those players will be randomly paired up with their teammate. As you'll read below, there's no real advantage in knowing who your teammate will be anyway.

Though seats will be chosen randomly at the beginning of the tourney, your teammate will begin at a different table than you. You'll never play a hand against your teammate. The event is a shootout, meaning tables will not rebalance as players are eliminated. Instead, all tables will play down to 2 players before a final table is formed. For example, if the tournament began with 30 players, then the event would have three tables at its start. Each of those three tables would play down to 2 players, and then a final table of 6 players would form.

If neither member of your team makes the final table, then you sadly will not cash. If one member of your team makes the final table, both of you are still fully eligible for the big money. If both of you make the final table, then something very special happens. Your team earns $50 from the pot right away. Your two chip stacks combine into one large chip stack in front of a single seat. You alternate playing in that seat at the final table every time the blinds raise.

The Teamtacular offers a fun twist called mulligans. When a mulligan is used, the player gets to discard both of their hole cards and receive two new ones to play instead! A mulligan can be used anytime in a hand, even during the showdown once all cards are revealed. Players will begin the event with only one mulligan chip. Use it wisely. A second mulligan chip can be purchased during the first break of the event for $5.

The buy-in for the event is $25/player, so $50/team.

Payouts will be based off the number of teams that register. ALL winnings are distributed evenly to each member of a team, regardless of the situation by which the team won the money. For example, let's say Rylan and Skylar are teammates. Skylar gets knocked out of the tournament on the very first hand. Rylan ends up winning the entire tournament hours later. If 1st place paid $400, then Rylan and Skylar would each earn $200.

Only no-limit Texas Hold'em will be played. Standard rules for winning hands, betting order, etc. will be followed. CPL regulations will be in effect. All money collected from entries is paid out as winnings. No cut is taken for any reason. This tournament is Texas-legal.

STARTING STACKS: The five colored chips that will be used are gold, blue, green, lavender, and black. Each color is worth a denomination that only has value during a tournament. At the start of The Teamtacular, every player will begin with 9000 in chips + 1 Mulligan Chip. The Mulligan Chip has no quantitative value in a hand. As the blinds raise higher, players will be "chipped up" to remove lower denomination colors. Chips are always rounded up. Here are the values of the colors:

Gold= $50
Blue = $100
Green = $500
Lavender = $1000
Black = $5000

Red = Mulligan

FORMAT AND BLINDS: Player seats will be chosen at random. Teammates will never sit at the same table. The starting position of the dealer button will begin at Position 3 at each table. Mulligan Chips should always be visible. Once one is used, it's gone forever. Blinds will start at 50/100 and raise every twenty minutes. Here is the blind schedule:

The event will take place at Robbie's house and start at 6pm sharp. The address will be sent to those who register. The official event date is 9/24/16.

No rakes/cuts are ever taken on the league's behalf. Players are never charged an additional fee outside of the normal buy-in. Tournaments are privately held (which is accomplished via membership fee on the night). All players begin events with equal odds of winning.  Players are prohibited from making "deals" during a tournament.  The tournament must be played until a single player/team has been deemed the winner. Players must follow all etiquette, including never showing another player their hand or performing any other actions viewed as cheating. No more than twenty teams will be registered for The Mulligan Teamtacular. No string betting. Cards speak for themselves. Substitutes are not permitted at any time. Only CPL chips will be used during the tournament. Rebuys, add-ons, wilds, bounties, special points, and/or antes are not a part of the event. All money submitted to The Teamtacular is non-refundable. Points are not a part of the tournament (CPL point totals are not affected whatsoever). Directors reserve the right to alter the colors and denominations of chips used during the event. Payouts occur as soon as the tournament ends. This event is not catered.--please bring your own food, drink, and chair. Tables will not consolidate as players are eliminated. In a shootout, tables play down to smaller populations on their own before consolidating. This tourney will not consolidate until all starting tables have played down to two players. This means some tables may hold significantly more players than others at certain times. The maximum number of players the final table can start with is 8. If one table plays down to two players and the other tables are still active, then the two players will have to wait for the final table to form before their play continues. During that time, the blinds will be allowed to raise one more level and then they will freeze at that next level until all tables have played down to two players. When the final table begins, it will start at the next scheduled blind level and the clock will go as normal. Players start with 1 Mulligan Chip. When used, the red chip disappears, the player's hole cards are mucked, and the player receives two new hole cards from the top of the deck (no burn) in the same state they were in when mucked (meaning, if they were still hidden because the hand was not in showdown, then they are dealt facedown; if they were already revealed due to a showdown, then they are dealt faceup). When a Mulligan concludes, the player is now fully eligible to win the hand with his new cards. At the first break, players may purchase a second Mulligan Chip for $5 (even if they haven't played their first one). Players will be able to play a maximum of two Mulligan Chips during the tournament. Venue host earns a twenty dollar credit toward their buy-in. Teammates are welcome to speak to each other as much as they'd like during the event. However, they can never share cards or card identities with each other. Advice and/or strategy cannot be given during a hand. One pair of eyes per hand no matter what. Chips and Mulligans cannot be shared either. If one member of a team earns cash, then both members of the team earn equal shares of that prize. If both members of a team make the final table, they receive a $50 reward from the tournament pot immediately ($25 per player will be received). Their chip stacks then combine into a single entity for the final table. The players will then alternate playing the stack every time the blinds raise. During this shared experience, the players still cannot both look at hole cards in a given hand. It is also understood that if this special circumstance occurs, the number of active seats expected at the final table will be reduced. Seating at the final table will be decided by random draw. CPL will retain all money collected for additional mulligan chips. Single players are invited to register without a teammate. Those players will be randomly matched with other single entrants. If an odd number of players register, then one player will play alone, meaning they will unfortunately lose all benefits of having a teammate (but they will be eligible for a full payout). Players do not have the option to choose to play without a teammate. If a player deliberately or excessively violates CPL policy, that player may be expelled from the tournament without refund.
All rule disputes will be resolved solely by a CPL Director (Robbie Cummings or Russell Pullen).
